The Best Productivity Podcasts for Freelancers


The growth of the internet has not led to the decline of a very well established medium, radio. Far from it. Technology has enabled audio content to be streamed and consumed on-demand. The ubiquitous smartphone means accessing radio on demand has never been easier. Podcasts, one form of on-demand audio content, continue to be popular. Whatever your interest – be it sport, news or comedy, there will be a podcast for you.

For freelancers there is a wealth of great content out there. Here we picked nine productivity podcasts that provide tips and insights on how to work smarter and be more productive. Something we can all appreciate at this time of year.

1 The Tim Ferriss show

Tim Ferriss is an American author, entrepreneur and public speaker. He has written a series of books all related to productivity including The 4-Hour Workweek. His podcast offers more of the same, with interviews, insights and tips on how to be more productive.

In his own words, “Each episode, I deconstruct world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract the tactics, tools, and routines you can use.  This includes favorite books, morning routines, exercise habits, time-management tricks, and much more.”

2 Taking Note: A podcast by Evernote

Evernote is a note-taking and productivity tool. Its podcast interviews experts and creative thinkers on how they come up with great ideas and organise their work.

Podcast host Todd Henry, author of The Accidental Creative, Die Empty, and Louder Than Words, interviews artists, authors and business leaders, and offers tips for how to thrive in life and work.

5 Getting things done

Host of the podcast David Allen is an expert on personal organisation. He published Getting Things Done 15 years ago which his approach to organising work and life. The Getting Things Done podcast provides monthly insights into Allen’s methodology and other insights to help become more organised and productive.
